曾榮獲5次葛萊美的肯定，也是第一個同時拿下葛萊美最佳流行女歌手與R&B歌手的黑人女歌手。

40年代生於紐澤西的Dionne Warwick狄昂華薇克，6歲開始學音樂，並擔任家族福音歌唱隊的成員，後來在大學裡接受正統的音樂訓練，隨後從紐澤西鄉下遠赴紐約發展，擔任歌手與樂 團的合音工作，在因緣際會下被當時已名噪一時的作曲/編曲/製作人的勃特貝克瑞克(Burt Bacharach)發堀，且著手為她寫下首支個人Top 21單曲Don't Make Me Over，狄昂自信中帶著沮喪的唱法，成功地詮釋歌詞意境，引起樂迷共鳴，之後，她便與勃特貝克瑞克(曲)、賀爾大衛 (Hal David，詞)結成堅強的創作成/演唱三人組，特別自六○ -八○年代間，締造了許多令人百聽不厭的排行暢銷曲，因此若是樂迷只知道她是現代節奏藍調天后惠妮休斯頓的阿姨，曾經1986年與艾爾頓強、史提夫汪達為 籌措愛滋病基金所合唱的排行Top 10單曲That's What Friends Are For等事蹟是絕對不夠的，因為她在此之前的成就，已經足以和披頭四、海灘男孩 (Beach Boys)以及摩城唱片(Motown)的許多超級巨星相提並論。
